About

I am a psychoanalyst who is licensed in Oregon as an MFT with over fifteen years of experience. I see adults, couples, adolescents and families.

I received my training at the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute, the Psychotherapy Institute, McAuley Institute and the Wright Institute. Currently, I am on faculty at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Center in Portland, Oregon and teach an ongoing course on lost classic texts in psychoanalysis.

I also hold a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in English Language and Literature. Before I entered the field of mental health, I studied and taught English Literature at Reed College among other places. The training I had in the field of English literature— where the study of symbolism, narrative, character, meaning and metaphor — has provided a strong foundation for working with unconscious life. It is through a deeper understanding of unconscious dynamics that I believe sheds light on the complex experience of mental stress and pain.
